MoSPI finalized the framework to rebase the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Index of Industrial Production (IIP) utilizing the findings of the latest Household Consumption Expenditure Survey (HCES), updating the decade-old 2011-12 base.

  • CPI food and beverage weight (currently ~45.86% in CPI-Combined) will decrease in line with Engel's law as household expenditure shifts towards conveyance, education, healthcare, and digital services.
  • NITI Aayog's latest SDG India Index documented that all States have transitioned out of the 'Aspirant' category, with Front-Runners expanding across basic amenities, clean energy, and gender equality.
