The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) awarded incentives under the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) programme, targeting 5 Million Metric Tonnes (MMT) annual production of green hydrogen by 2030.

Green Hydrogen is produced through water electrolysis using renewable electricity (solar/wind); zero greenhouse gas emissions during production.
Distinguish colours: Grey Hydrogen (from natural gas with emissions), Blue Hydrogen (natural gas with carbon capture & storage), Green Hydrogen (renewables).
Target sectors for decarbonisation: Fertiliser plants, petroleum refineries, steel manufacturing, and heavy long-haul mobility.
Associated target: 125 GW associated renewable energy capacity addition by 2030.
